MWDOC/MET

For Karl, being a director at Municipal Water District of Orange County starts with getting elected from Division 4 representing the cities of Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach and Seal Beach.  Issues at MWDOC also involve providing imported water and other services to cities and water districts throughout Orange County.  Furthermore, MWDOC appoints four board members to represent MWDOC and influence policies and programs at Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MET), the main importer of water into Southern California from the State Water Project and the Colorado River.  So being a Director at MWDOC involves policies at the local level, the Orange County level, the Southern California level, within the Colorado River Basin Area and Statewide issues within California.  It takes a lot of time to understand and navigate such a system – Karl’s years of experience have provided the training necessary to become an effective director.

MWDOC/Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MET)

The Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) is a wholesale water supplier and resource planning agency in Orange County whose efforts focus on sound planning and appropriate investments in water supply development, water use efficiency, public information, legislative advocacy, water education and emergency preparedness. MWDOC is one of 26 member agencies of Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MET).  The MET service area covers from Ventura to the Mexican Border and includes about 19 million residents.  MWDOC serves about 2.4 million Orange County residents through 28 retail water agencies and covers all of Orange County except for the cities of Anaheim, Fullerton and Santa Ana who were part of the original formation of MET in 1928. https://www.mwdoc.com/#

Metropolitan Water District (MET)

Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MET) is the main importer of water into Southern California from the State Water Project and the Colorado River and has 26 member agencies, one of them being MWDOC. MWDOC is the third largest member agency of MET, which assigns voting power and the number of directors from each member agency based on total assessed value. MWDOC appoints four directors to the 37 member MET Board.  The combined voting power of MWDOC and the three original cities members to MET (Anaheim, Fullerton and Santa Ana) allows Orange County to be one of the strongest voices in Metropolitan policy. http://www.mwdh2o.com/
